The American International School, Jeddah (AISJ) held a celebration recently under the theme "Pursue your dreams, live your passion."
This event was organized as part of the school’s newly revised mission statement that guides their recently developed strategic plan.
Monti Hallberg, superintendent of AISJ, who welcomed the guests, said: “I am thankful to all the supporters and members of AISJ for all their help through the years and for their loyalty and valued contributions to the school. The gala night was a tribute to those that follow their passion and achieve success in it. It’s an annual event that aims to bring together community members and supporters under one roof and bring the latest activities that school has to offer. It’s an opportunity for us to come out of our shell and showcase the school mission in an exceptional way.”
The school announced the building of a new campus. Dr. Parwaiz Khalid, chairman of the board of trustees of AISJ and the director of clinical services at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, said: “This is the most important decision by board members and a significant ongoing project.”
The event reached new heights when it witnessed the unveiling of the Cobra Kit car, a project dreamed up by Kyle Sumrow, former auto-mechanics engineering teacher at AISJ, and built by the AISJ students that will be auctioned in the coming months.
Sid Fritts, automobile engineer and a guest teacher who taught the automotive class under short-term to build this car, said: “The car has been an amazing project, especially with these students here in the AISJ.”
Danny Yousuf, an 11th grader and a team member of Cobra Car, said: “I am proud to be part of it and gained a great experience.”
