Alpha Cargo, which has been serving clients within the GCC and beyond for nearly 40 years, hosted its annual iftar party at Jeddah Trident recently with the participation of diplomats, businessmen, media persons and community leaders.

K.P. Abdul Salam, managing director of Alpha, spoke about the company’s achievements over the past year. “We enjoy helping individuals and corporates transport their shipments — be it their personal effects, unaccompanied baggage, valuables or time-bound shipments, product samples, documents, medicine, relief aid and dangerous goods,” he pointed out.

He also spoke about the company’s city check-in services for Haj pilgrims. “Several airlines have shown interest in providing the city baggage check-in service to foreign Haj pilgrims in coordination with cargo companies as the service has proved helpful to airlines in carrying out smooth operation of their out-going Haj flights without delay,” he said.

Salam said the city check-in service would benefit thousands of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Turkish, Malaysian, African and other pilgrims, and will help reduce overcrowding of pilgrims at airports. “Our company has the manpower and logistics to provide the service, meeting the expectations of both pilgrims and airlines,” he said.

He said Alpha Cargo, which is an IATA certified agent, intends to expand its check-in and cargo handling facilities in the coming years to support the Saudi government’s endeavors to improve services being rendered to the guests of God.“Our aim is to become a dependable city check-in provider for Saudi aviation industry, especially during the Haj and Umrah pilgrim seasons.”
