The Al-Khozama Hotel in Riyadh has launched an Australian barbecue festival, which will run through Oct. 11, says hotel Manager Erik Huyer.

“There is no better place to enjoy October’s fine weather, a hearty menu and friendly hospitality than at the Australian Barbecue Food Festival at Al-Khozama Hotel,” he said.

Australian Ambassador Neil Hawkins accompanied by his wife graced the opening ceremony.

Huyer said internationally-renowned Chef Tarek Ibrahim had arrived, adding special sizzle and spice to the inaugural Australian barbecue food festival.”

He said Australian cuisine is famous for its quality and fresh produce and diversity, and appeals to a universal palate.

“Under the direction of celebrity Chef Tarek, the menu for the food festival includes everything from freshly grilled steaks, chicken and shrimp, to lamb kebabs and corn on the cob, and an awe-inspiring array of side dishes, sweet delights and traditional Australian refreshments,” he said.

He said the warmest of Australian welcome awaits guests from the minute they arrive at the Garden Barbecue that has been transformed into a little piece of Australia.

A lively atmosphere with music and the aromas of wood-smoked barbecue grills transport guests “down under.”

“Chef Tarek will also be sharing his expertise earned over 30 years running his own restaurants and starring in many TV cookery shows around the world, by giving a number of cooking workshops during the festival,” said Huyer, an Aussie married to a Filipino.
