The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) was conferred a special award at the 11th edition of Breakbulk Europe, which concluded recently in Antwerp.

Bahri received the award in recognition of its contribution to the growth of shipping and trade in the Belgian port city. Bahri had launched a new RoRo (roll-on, roll-off) line on Antwerp further expanding its European presence.

The award was presented to Matthew Luckhurst, line director of Bahri, by Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO of Antwerp Port Authority.

Bahri was a silver sponsor of Breakbulk Europe 2016, the largest exhibition and educational forum in the world addressing the needs of traditional breakbulk and project cargo logistics professionals.

The annual exhibition brought together over 350 exhibitors and sponsors, including specialized ocean carriers, freight forwarders, ports/terminals, logistics providers, ground transportation service providers, export packers, equipment companies and more. In addition, the event featured a series of conference sessions and micro seminars featuring key maritime stakeholders.

“With its broad scope and its reputation for attracting high-quality trade visitors, Breakbulk Europe presented us with an opportunity to introduce our portfolio of specialized services to potential and existing customers from around the world, and explore possibilities for cooperation,” said Ibrahim Al-Omar, CEO of Bahri.

“Over the years, Bahri has established itself as a major player in the global shipping industry, offering a comprehensive range of shipping and logistics solutions. Participation in Breakbulk Europe 2016 has helped open up new avenues for Bahri which will provide a further boost to our strategic ambitions,” added Al-Omar.

The Bahri delegation was welcomed by senior officials of the Port of Antwerp, and the company was accorded pride of place at the exhibition venue, with its pavilion — strategically located at 228H1 — attracting a significant number of trade visitors during the course of the four-day show.
