The board of trustees of Batterjee Medical College for Science and Technology (BMC) held its first meeting of the third session in the academic year 2013-2014 under the chairmanship of Sobhi Batterjee, chairman of the board of trustees and president of the Saudi German Hospitals Group, at the college in Obhur, north of Jeddah.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hassan Shaibah, BMC dean; Issam Mattar, academic adviser and supervisor of private universities and colleges at the Ministry of Higher Education; Dr. Ghazi Damanhouri, director of the King Fahd Center for Medical Research at King Abdulaziz University; Dr. Amin Al-Harabi, head of ENT department in the faculty of medicine, University of Umm Al-Qura; Dr. Hatem Kotb, associate professor at the faculty of medicine, University of Dammam; and Dr. Essam Azhar, associate professor at the faculty of medicine at King Abdulaziz University.

The council discussed the academic and administrative progress of work at the college, reviewed the proposals submitted by the college board. The board also discussed the points on the agenda that included the overall strategy for the coming years, nominations, number of students, curriculums and specialties. The council stressed the need to maintain the good position reached by the college and plan for further development.

The council expressed its appreciation and gratitude to the wise leadership for their continuous and unlimited support offered to the private sector in higher education. The council also expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Minister of Higher Education Khaled Al-Anqari and his deputy Ahmed Al-Saif for their support.

It also thanked Mohammed Al- Ohaly, undersecretary of educational affairs, and Walid Al-Dali, consultant and general supervisor of the private sector in the Ministry of Higher Education for their constant and constructive guidance.
