A British universities’ delegation met with Batterjee Medical College (BMC) and discussed ways of cooperation for promoting medical education.
The meeting, which took place in the context of existing coordination between the British Council and BMC, also focused on exchange of experiences in the fields of common disciplines and programs, including human medicine, dentistry, respiratory therapy, health management, medical imaging techniques, pharmacy, physical therapy and nursing.
The delegation included representatives of Cardiff University, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham and University of Liverpool.
The delegation visited BMC’s clinics, laboratories and classrooms and was reportedly impressed with the college’s advanced equipment, means of advanced training for students and educational environment in general.
Both sides agreed on the continuation of communication to develop appropriate cooperative mechanism between them.
Meanwhile, BMC initiated a development program for its faculty staff. The initiative follows BMC's quest for developing academic cadres as part of the college plan to improve the quality of medical education. In this context, BMC organized a three-day workshop titled “Evaluation of medicinal learning outcomes” at its headquarters in Jeddah.
The workshop started with welcoming the faculty members, clarifying its objectives and reviewing the most important points to be discussed.
The primary objective of the workshop is to develop teaching, and assess strategies and other educational skills for the faculty staff, which in turn would reflect positively on the performance of students and encourage their creativity and achievement through a stimulating learning environmentThe workshop was attended by BMC’s faculty members specialized in various medical fields.
“It was a success and had a fruitful interaction, and achieved the desired goals,” BMC stated, adding that the faculty development program received appreciation from all those present. They expressed their keenness to attend the entire program that would run for a full academic year, which might include other workshops.
