Ten Saudi women have been awarded with empowerment opportunities in line with the recently concluded campaign, New Beginnings, led by Persil Abaya Shampoo from Henkel.

The campaign, held in line with the holy month of Ramadan and in collaboration with Al Bir Society, honored the women beneficiaries with a total amount of SR200,000 to support their skill and trade-based development projects.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Mazen Batterjee, chairman of the board of Albir Society Jeddah, Henkel’s Sales Director for Saudi Arabia Sami Qahar and a number of invitees.

Held for the second year in a row and founded on the need for community advancement, the initiative provides Arab women in the GCC a chance to actuate and/or grow their aspirations in support of their families and the community at large.

Qahar said: “The New Beginnings campaign, which has been conceptualized by Persil Abaya Shampoo of Henkel to answer the call of action by NGOs like Albir, aims at empowering women to better their social and economic status.”

“These exemplary women have been brave in supporting their families, believing in their potential and re-start again to embark in small businesses, not only aiding their families but also bringing a change to their communities. We are truly proud of each one of them,” Qahar added.

Qahar stated: “Empowering women is key to the development of all societies. It is our role as of the private sector to stand by the efforts put by our governments to enhance the status of women and all social segments."

Qahar added: "Empowering women and recognizing their equalities as citizens will surely enable them to improve their lives and participate in the economic development of their respective countries. Our efforts have started in the Kingdom but we will continue to empower more women in the Gulf countries.”
