Flynas, described as the Kingdom’s first and only budget airline, launched its daily 90-minute flight to Baha from King Khaled International Airport (KKIA) on Thursday.
KKIA Director General Abdulaziz bin Saad Harbah attended the launching ceremony.
National Air Services Group (NAS Holding) CEO Bandar bin Abdul Rahman Al-Muhanna, said: “Flynas will have an average of one flight a day, seven days a week.”
He said: “The flight departs from KKIA at 9:30 a.m. and arrives at Baha Airport at 11:10 a.m. The return flight arrives at the KKIA at 1:10 p.m.”
Al-Muhanna said that the launch of the new flights between Riyadh and Baha is part of the airline’s objective to render more service to citizens and residents.
He added that the expansion of the airline’s area of operations in the Kingdom is part of a long-term strategy that includes expanding the categories of customers.
“But while we aim for this, we keep in mind to make traveling convenient for the citizens and residents at a low cost,” said Al-Muhanna who replaced Sulaiman Al-Hamdan as CEO.
Al-Hamdan was appointed president of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA).
Al-Hamdan also expressed his hope that the added flights will help ramp up local tourism.
“We hope that more residents from the Central Region will visit Baha for tourism purposes, citing tourism attractions that could be found there,” he said.
He noted that Al-Baha is small in size but impressive in its splendor and is known for the majestic Sarawat mountain range.
“The Sarawat mountain range is often enveloped in thick fog during winter. The temperatures are also moderate in Tuhama plains,” he said.
