To reduce energy consumption, Jotun Saudi Arabia, claimed to be the Kingdom’s number one paint company, has invested in tubular skylights at its new warehouse in Dammam to take advantage of natural light from the sun.

Called Sky Tunnels the metallic, 475mm diameter tubes are fitted into the roof of the warehouse and capped with a transparent acrylic watertight dome that diffuses light. The reflective internal surface collects and concentrates sunlight, which shines down with the equivalent illumination of fluorescent tubes during daylight hours. In addition to cutting energy costs, tubular skylights significantly reduce financial and environmental costs related to the purchase of maintenance and disposal of fluorescent tubes while creating cooler rooms.

“We aim to make our warehouse in Dammam state-of the art in every respect and, as Jotun Saudia is committed to upholding the environmental values and energy-saving efforts of the Jotun Green Steps program, the roadmap to a sustainable world and better future use of the Sky Tunnels is a great initiative in this area and we intend to roll out across our network of facilities in the Kingdom,” stated Dave Wright, MD, Jotun Saudia.
