Omar Air hosted an award ceremony earlier in November, in recognition of the efforts of the 65-strong core team of Oman Air business continuity personnel. The ceremony marked achievements by the staff.

The event was held with the support of Mohsin bin Khamis Al-Balushi, adviser to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and board member of Oman Air, in the presence of dignitaries earlier this month.

Oman Air’s CEO, Paul Gregorowitsch, explained: “Oman Air is focused on ensuring reliability of our service and I am delighted that we have achieved such great steps in enhancing our business continuity arrangements. Not only is this very valuable to Oman Air, but it provides a significant contribution to wider resilience in Oman, an important reflection of our responsibility as the national carrier to become the best.”

Oman Air has embarked upon this initiative to strengthen its ability to manage serious disruptions, commented by Khalid Abdul Wahab Al-Balushi, senior manager, government relations and sustainability, who is also a certified lead auditor in business continuity planning.

This pioneering business continuity project has involved the training of a team of business continuity coordinators, and the formulation and testing of comprehensive plans, designed to deal with a range of scenarios.

The project has drawn upon the expertise of consultants from the UK Cabinet Office’s Emergency Planning College (EPC). Mark Clegg, the EPC’s head of programs, and one of its senior consultants, Charlotte Hems, have been working alongside Oman Air personnel since August.

"There is always a permanent and continuous follow-up with the employees who have been trained in order to make them aware of all developments that occur in this sector, which is one of the basic pillars of this project," the company stated.
