Oman Air held a celebration this week to mark its inaugural flight between Muscat and the Iranian city of Mashhad.

The first flight on June 1 and was followed by a press conference. Oman Air’s Deputy CEO and EVP Commercial Abdulrahaman Al-Busaidy hosted a dinner reception, which was attended by VIPs and senior representatives from the aviation authorities of both Oman and Iran.

The reception was held in Mashhad, with the support of Mohammed Jawad bin Hassan bin Sulaiman, adviser to the Omani Ministry of Finance.

The new daily service is Oman Air’s second to Iran, following the launch of flights to Tehran in 2012. It utilizes Boeing 737-800 aircraft and flights depart Muscat International Airport at 2 p.m., arriving at Mashhad International Airport (also known as Shahid Hashemi Nejad Airport) at 5:15 p.m.. Return flights depart Mashhad International Airport at 9.45 p.m. and arrive in Muscat at 11.50 p.m. (all times quoted are local).

The service offers travelers from throughout Oman Air’s international network the opportunity to discover a vibrant and exciting new destination.
