The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) has sought a 420 km area, south of the industrial city of Yanbu, for the future industrial expansion of the city.

According to a source, a committee, composed of representatives of the ministries of municipal, rural affairs, and finance, besides Madinah Mayoralty and the RCJY, has issued its approval on the commission’s request.

The source said the committee has completed an inventory of all these properties, including 332 private and public properties that encroach on some government facilities.

The properties include 166 private ones, eight instruments outside the area for future expansion, 152 instruments that need to study by the Court of Appeal, and six instruments acquired categorically from the Court of Cessation.

"The committee has agreed to enable the RCJY to start planning, design, construction, and implementation of all its projects planned for future industrial expansion within the region," the source added.

It demanded the Ministry of Justice to issue an instrument on the full size of the land in accordance with the scheme prepared by the committee for the benefit of the Royal Commission.

Furthermore, the ministry should also refer the 152 instruments that need examination to the Court of Appeal, to apply expropriation system on the proven ownership of the land.
