Saudi female professionals and businesswomen lauded the skills of women designers, who have displayed their aesthetic talents through designs marketed in the Kingdom and abroad.

The women’s outstanding skills were exhibited when a 41-member team comprising Saudi businesswomen and professionals visited the Al-Sorayai Industrial Group’s factories in the Western Province. The company operates in the home furnishing sector.

The team also included Saudi university professors and socialites, who toured the factories of the group as well as its retail arm such as the Homestyle store in Jeddah to enhance their understanding of the manufacturing and retail sector in the region.

At the Homestyle store, the delegation learned about the creative talents of young Saudi female designers. The visitors applauded the efforts of the in-store designers and learned how their intricate designs and innovative flair at merchandising products make Homestyle a shopping destination for the average Saudi family.

The group next toured the Al-Sorayai factories where they witnessed first-hand how carpet yarn is spun and then woven into the aesthetic creations retailed at home decor stores. The delegation appreciated the factories’ scale of operations and exceptional quality of work.

“I have visited several factories in the course of my work, but nothing I have ever seen is as impressive or equals the size and scale of Al-Sorayai’s factories and the automation they use,” Saudi designer and businesswoman Rania Khwaiquer said.

Ilham, professor of Arts specializing in textiles at King Abdulaziz University, said she was proud to learn that Saudi Arabia could boast of such synergistic and seamless manufacturing processes.

Ruqa, an organizational development consultant, said it was an informative tour that reiterated how appropriate organizational systems have a tremendous positive influence on the morale of employees, especially when working in a physically demanding environment such as a factory.
