Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has opened a new office in Sudanese capital Khartoum, SPA reports.

Saudia Director General Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Sudan's Minister of Local Governance Hasan Ismail Sayed, Saudi Charge d'Affaires in Khartoum Yahya Mulah, officials, and representatives of the air transport industry in Sudan attended the event recently.

Air transport services between Jeddah and Khartoum had further deepened the strong bonds between the two cities and the peoples of the two countries, Al-Jasser said while speaking at the event.

He said two-way flights between Jeddah and Khartoum will increase from 20 a week to 24 from Jan.1, and will reach 28 a week in September, while two-way flights between Riyadh and Khartoum will increase from 14 to 18 per week from September using Boeing’s new B777-200 version.

Saudia’s new office is located on Obaid Khatim street, one of the busiest and finest roads in the Sudanese capital, he added.

He said the three-story building lies on an area of 400 sqm and is equipped with state-of-the-art devices.

Saudia’s first flight to Sudan was in 1947 when it flew from Jeddah to Port Sudan on the other side of the Red Sea before shifting operations to Khartoum in 1970.
