Last Wednesday was a dark and sad day for Saudi Arabia’s football and Hilal family. What we witnessed is a disaster and everyone in the team share the blame with special mention of its management, which is the worst in all of Hilal’s history.
For the past five years, the team’s management has been committing the same mistakes year after year. Everyone can see that the team is falling apart but the management doesn’t care. In Saudi Arabia, no team has more passionate fans than Hilal. The fans’ love for the team is overwhelming that it is sad how the management holds the fans in contempt. When the president himself doesn’t show up, it is a direct disrespect to the fans. I will not be surprised if the fans take their queue on that and start boycotting the games.
Talking about the coach, I think he played without a plan. Although he is a little better than last year, he is still a long way to go from what the team needs. Hilal had good wins in the last two matches in the league and then lost to Ulsan big time just like that. Hilal’s strength is in midfielders but they weren’t utilized. Was it part of this coach’s plan or the lack thereof?
The team roster needs a major overhaul. Too many do not deserve to wear the blue jersey. I have been saying how the team needs new blood and new foreign players. Among them, only Wesley Lopes is in his rightful place.
For many Hilal lovers, this match was the worst. Ending it like this took us all by surprise. In Korea, they had 0-1, how hard was it to make 1-0 in their own country, in their hometown! It feels like Hilal gave away our finals.
