In Ramadan, a number of restaurants, cafes and fast food places offer different cuisines and special dishes for Iftar. For those of you in search of a culinary experience like no other, look no further than Rosewood Corniche.
Rosewood Corniche offers a serene of comfort through its rich yet warm atmosphere during a time of peace and reflection where you can immerse yourself in a decor that takes you back to the ancient splendor of old Jeddah and memorable flavors of Hejazi cuisine.
Embrace the elegance of the holy month with friends and loved ones at Habsburg Restaurant and Noodles restaurant at Rosewood Corniche, with delicious food from regular Saudi dishes, traditional Ramadan favorites to special ones with flavors that have remarkable depth.
Rosewood is known best for its range of bread, Arabic and continental desserts, live cooking of liver in Arabic style and exceptional arrangements for those special guests who have food-related allergies.
Maurizio Panicali, executive chef at Habsburg Restaurant, told me on inquiry that they keep in mind people’s different needs. He said they serve brown bread along with white bread for diabetic and health conscious people.
He also said those guests who follow an eccentric type of diet or are suffering from allergies can tell the chef about their diet and allergies and the chef will tweak the food preparations accordingly.
I was impressed with the smart selection of food in the buffet. There was everything, from poultry to seafood, diverse kinds of roasts, barbecue, salads with different dressing, soups, a range of breads, desserts such as custard, jelly, Umm Ali, puddings, French pastry, cream Carmela, live cooking of Kebbeh Labaniyeh, which you can tweak according to your taste, Shawarma, Mantos and Yoghmush (dumplings stuffed with mince and labna), Jarish (oats), Ouzi, grilled beef with mushrooms, Potato Blancher, mozzarella chicken rolls, grilled shrimps (chef’s special), grilled salmon with fennel, Pasta Al Forno, Hot Mezza, fried eggplant, Hammour Samaka Harra, mixed grill, Moroccan Chicken Tagine and traditional Moroccan couscous. Enough to satisfy the biggest of appetites!
A host of other goodies, including fresh juices, cold beverages, Zamzam water served in a traditional style, cakes and desserts lined the shelves, offering something for everyone. The ambiance of the restaurant, as warm as the food, and the friendly demeanor of the attendees truly make you feel at home.
I started with Italian bread with olives and fried eggplant. It was something I never tasted before. The Halloumi fried rolls along with the chef’s special fried shrimps are a must try. The chicken grill was tender and juicy.
The taste of grilled salmon with fennel and dumplings in labna, roasted beef and mixed grill remained long after I finished eating. The dishes were executed perfectly, the bright colors and the presentation of the ingredients made them a feast for the eyes as well as for the stomach.
Kebbeh Labaniyeh and Shawarma were good too, but as a spice lover, I thought it would do better with some more chili.
For dessert, I tried the chef’s special cheese cake with bittersweet dark chocolate and French pastry and cream Carmela. The cheese cake with fresh cream dressing was simply divine. The cream Carmela was a bit too sweet for my liking but it was indeed enjoyable.
The servings were big and a bit pricey, but it was all worth for such an extraordinary taste. I know I’ll certainly be returning soon.
The work of Chefs Maurizio Panicali and Shehata Abd El Hamid Mahfouz, Executive Sous Chef, is amazing.
