Preparing for an upcoming Skype interview? Never done it before? For the past few years, social media has been responsible for bringing the best talent to market.

During the interviews, firms don’t ask for resumes, they ask for presence.

Following are tips by Viral Global News to prepare for a Skype interview:

What to wear: Avoid bright colors. You don’t want your interviewers turning off the video portion without you realizing it. Keep colors neutral, such as brown, gray, charcoal, khaki and off white. Keep make-up and accessories to a minimum. It helps to avoid distractions.

Where to stream: Experts say they have seen people in a coffee shop, and it’s been unbearable trying to listen to the interviewee. Many libraries have study rooms. Interviewees can schedule them with their local library if they do not have a quiet room in the home. Pick a room with a neutral wall, and avoid distracting photos in the background.

How to interview: Be yourself. Employers know how nervous job candidates are, and offer flexibility in pauses and responses. Avoid speaking negatively against former employers, and to compose facial expressions, to avoid showing annoyance. The best candidates aren’t the most polished but they are the ones that take a keen interest in connecting with the interviewer.
