The Al-Nabta non-profit environmental organization organized a festival to celebrate Earth Day at Kaki grounds recently.
The two-day event was organized with the aim of spreading environmental awareness among children through different activities.
Sawsan Alim, founder and head of Al-Nabta, said the group is specialized in raising awareness on environmental issues and have created different programs for schools to help instill eco-friendly values among students.
“We organized this two-day event to celebrate Earth Day with the rest of the world with the aim of spreading awareness about the environment through a number of fun activities that can involve the children in a interactive and beneficial manner,” she said.
She further explained that the festival had seven different games, including a kid zone for children aged 1-5 as well as awareness booths, a wall painting activity, recycling bin displays, a storytelling corner and many other activities.
“If we implant the right values that teach our children to appreciate nature and preserve the environment, it will lead to behavioral changes and foster awareness. We tried to provide the students with important information on various environmental issues, such as recycling and limiting waste in every activity,” she said.
She added: “We aspire to create environmental clubs in every school, so our future generations will grow up with a good grasp and knowledge of environmental issues.”
