In search of sunrise: Las Vegas

Dutch DJ and producer Richard Durand who recently released his "In Search Of Sunrise 11" compilation dedicated it to the city of Las Vegas as a testament to the growth of EDM in the United States, which in his opinion is “bigger now than the country.”
“When I asked the producers to send me the tracks prior to the compilation, it’s not that I asked them for tracks that had a little bit of that Las Vegas feeling. It was a little bit too romantic, I think,” he said.
Preferring to work on a compilation to create a storyline, Durand says that it’s about creating an atmosphere that transcends him as a DJ just putting songs together.
Calling the work on a compilation a “big stressful and challenging puzzle because in the end there’s always an unbelievably good record that someone would send me on the last day,” Durand went on to say: “I can do nothing any more if the big talented producers of the moment don’t do anything. Then there’s not going to be a new CD. It’s not only about me who decides what goes into the CD but it’s all about the people who make the music.”
