DUBAI: Footage of a policeman wrestling a woman holding a child to the ground in Shanghai has sparked uproar on Chinese social media.
The altercation reportedly took place during an argument about a parking ticket in a neighborhood of Shanghai last week.
In the viral video, the policeman can be seen having a row with a woman holding a child. She approaches the officer and seems to push him before the policeman throws the woman to the ground.
Witnesses rush to pick up the child while police restrain the woman.
A second widely-circulated video shows the woman being handcuffed with what appear to be bruises on her face.
Shanghai police confirmed that the incident happened at 10.30 a.m., local time, in Songjiang District of the city.
According to Chinese News outlet news.163.com, the woman and the child were medically examined after the incident.

Chinese social media users condemned the incident, according to The Independent.
“No matter what she does you also can’t do this to a child,” said one comment.
“Police have a problem,” said another.
Others blamed the woman for seeming to push the police officer.
