JEDDAH, 11 March 2004 — Turkey is to mount an industrial exhibition in Jeddah showcasing machinery and equipment. This first-time undertaking by the Turks is one of nine exhibitions being held at the Jeddah International Exhibition and Convention Center this year, Dr. Talal I. Al-Mashadi, deputy general manager at Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions said yesterday.
Some 1,500 local and international companies take part in annual or biennial trade shows organized by ACE.
The business generated by exhibitors runs into “several million riyals”, according to Al-Mashadi.
This year’s events begin with the 10th annual “Middle East Education and Training Exhibition and Symposium”, from March 30-April 2.
Nearly a dozen US educational institutions will participate; there will also be a major presence by Malaysia, India, France and Germany because of the Kingdom’s position as the world’s seventh largest spender on education.
With the continuing boom in the construction industry, the “Saudi Building and Interiors Exhibition and Symposium” from April 25-29 is expected to prove an attraction to overseas companies specializing in new materials.
The biennial “Food and Hotels-Arabia” is the ninth such event and incorporates “Art de Table”. It is being held in conjunction with “PROPAC-Arabia” for production and processing, printing and packaging, plastics and chemicals from May 9-13.
China and Cyprus are taking part in this event for the first time. India and Pakistan are among the other countries.
The annual International Trade Fair is set from May 23-27. This will be the 22nd annual such expo.
Turkey’s solo exhibition will be held from June 6 to 9. This will be followed by the annual “COMMTEL” — for computing, the Internet, office equipment and accessories, business communications and mobile phones, from Sept. 12-16. Jeddah’s 4th international book fair will follow from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5.
The Saudi International Motor Show will take place in two halves, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3 and then from Dec. 8 to 17.
