This is with reference to the article “Determined for post-oil future” (June 19) by Rasheed Abou-Alsamh. I do agree with the writer that the Kingdom’s leadership is making all-out efforts to diversify the country’s economy. We do understand that it will take some time to notice the impact of all these decisions aimed at reducing Kingdom’s dependence on oil income. However, one thing is for sure that the Kingdom is on the right path.
I believe that even if oil prices soar, the people of the Kingdom should not at all abandon their efforts. As far as the leadership of Saudi Arabia is concerned, it is working overtime to achieve its goals but people should also join hands with their government.
Saudis should understand that their government is taking all these decisions for their own welfare.
The Kingdom should also forge strategic ties with all key global players. I think the Muslim world needs to engage Russia more actively. Ties with any country should not be based on the enmity for some third party or country. — Danish Ahmed, Jeddah
