PARIS: “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp has put his sprawling southern France compound, including two pools and a chapel, up for sale for about 23 million euros ($26 million), Sotheby’s Realty announced Friday.
Located about 25 km from the French Riviera resort of Saint Tropez, the property is in the village of Plan de la Tour and has 1,000 square meters of living space spread across the 37-acre property.
“Johnny has decided to sell the Plan de la Tour property to close this chapter of his life and move on,” Alexander Kraft, head of Sotheby’s International Realty France, wrote in a description of the estate.
The Hollywood star’s compound comprises over 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in the collection of structures that includes the main home, several guest houses, a hunter’s cabin, a workshop as well as a restaurant.
“He decorated everything, paying attention to the smallest detail, in a ‘Bohemian’ or ‘artistic’ style and the property is being sold with all its contents, books, DVDs, furniture and some works of art,” Kraft told AFP.
“This type of thing is very rare for a property that belongs to a star of his calibre.”
Depp, 52, carried out extensive renovations on the house.
“Over several years, he painstakingly restored and decorated all the houses of the village one by one, bringing his very personal touch to the project and creating a property of exceptional character,” said Kraft’s description of the property.
