• That the rules of engagement were flung to the winds and in the aftermath children are increasingly on the firing line. Who will stop it from getting worse?
• The innocent are always victims of terrorism and no further evidence is required.
• Mankind is the only species that kills for reasons beyond threat and food.
• It is the perfect occasion for India and Pakistan to forget everything else and unite as one force to fight the scourge.
• No place in the world is safe and a normal shopping expedition or a sit down for a cup of coffee can be a danger. The Sydney hostage situation underscores that.
• If we have to do something as individuals let us send tangible help to the victims’ families. Drawing room talk is not enough. Is there anybody who can direct the people who want to help without they themselves being a hindrance?
• The time has come when the Martin Luther king quote is valid; there are times you have to pick up the gun to put the GUN down. These are those times. The world has to lose its temper and its patience.
• The lead has to be taken by all, not by one nation and without any extraneous agendas except to wipe out the plague of gratuitous violence. If we do not do it as a global entity the monster will feed upon the weak.
• Sadly every nation has its fringe group and its lunatics and its conspiracies about the perpetrators. There is no advantage left after Peshawar in the old game of exchanging accusations. Let us not use politics to deflect responsibility and fact. Come together and let this black day stand for something.
• There are no excuses in our quiver. As Joan Baez once said, if we believe that it is natural for man to kill why should he have to go into training for it.
