Makkah, by virtue of its distinct characteristics, stands out from other cities in the world. The holy city is filled with events, both of historic and religious significance that became instrumental in changing much of the world’s face.
The events that occurred here had impact that continued to resonate even more that 1,400 years later.
This is the place where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born; here he began his prophetic mission; here is situated the mountain where Gabriel descended to deliver the message to him; and here is the valley where he would herd his sheep in his childhood.
The enemy besieged him here; he was forced to migrate from here; here still stands the cave that remains a mute testimony to his famous hiding.
From the top of Jabal Al-Nour, he declared monotheism (the Oneness of Allah) and laid down new rules for a better human life.
But the history of Makkah goes much beyond that. Allah Almighty elevated its status at the time when He created heavens and earth and turned it into a perpetual center of attraction for Muslims all across the world. Allah Almighty ensured secured livelihood to the inhabitants; and saved them from hunger and fear.
On this blessed land, Allah sent down the verses of his Last Book, i.e. the Qur’an and made the Grand Mosque for the highest rituals for it houses the holy Kaaba, the first sacred house for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying there for worship and those who bow and prostrate.
During the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) Allah Almighty made the Grand Mosque as the Qibla (direction) for prayers.
I therefore wonder how a person or a country can dare desecrate this place and think of disturbing its security and serenity and dare disrespect its position! Allah says, “And whoever honors the symbols of Allah — indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.” (Qur’an, 22:32)
I take pity on all those who claim to be Muslims and then dare to make intrigues and conspiracies in the vicinity of the holy mosque, which is a nucleas of Islam on the earth?
While Iranian leader Ali Khamenei remains engaged in making false accusations, the Kingdom continues to give utmost care to the fifth pillar of Islam based on the testimonials of the whole Islamic world. Iran is the very country that inflicted much harm on Islam in the past. Iran’s is a bloody and hostile history and hence what its leaders say do not come as a surprise. They are known for making lies and slanders and creating problems in every Haj season. Since the emergence of Ayatollah Khomeini, Iran has tried to export its so-called revolution to its neighboring countries — the revolution that has starved its people, imprisoned them and sent them to gallows.
Iran questions the Kingdom’s capability to manage the Haj affair and protect guests of Allah. These liars, however, have forgotten that they were the major reason for the lack of security and bloodshed in Haj seasons; they (Iranians) made riots and staged demonstrators carrying slogans in 1987 in the streets of Makkah but were deterred by our security men.
In 1986, the Saudi security authorities seized 52 kg of highly explosive items in the luggage of Iranian Hajis which were supposed to be used in the holy sites. In the Haj season of 1989, the Saudi Ministry of Interior seized saboteurs near the Grand Mosque who admitted that they had received explosives from the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait in addition to other similar Iranian conspiracies.
However, the Kingdom, since inception, has been capable of defending the holy sites efficiently while Iran will remain the source of evil, chaos and extremism.
