DEATH is inevitable but some people remain eternal in our memories for their work, achievements and people’s love. Nations take them as role models to follow and learn from their way of life. This is the characteristic of great men, who realize that they will die one day, but they build a heritage that remains for very long.
Some personalities remain immortal as their achievements speak for them and they remain in memories. Influential leaders’ achievements don’t die. We can see their manifestations in excellent governance and development. History remembers their achievements and the valuable steps they have taken.
Until Thursday, late King Abdullah was among us as a father figure. Our happiness was his main concern. He was loving, caring, forgiving and tolerant. He sought citizens’ satisfaction and comfort by providing them with the decent treatment they deserve, focusing on values of justice, equality and eliminating discrimination or nepotism. Such an approach sometimes cost him a lot and he endured tough times for our sake until his last breath. He worked so hard that he became ill, yet he wanted to remain strong for us, saying his famous quote,“As long as you are fine, I am fine.” He realized the severity of pressure and was aware how his exceptional concern for the citizens’ safety and security will affect his health, yet he worked day and night.
As we have bid farewell to our beloved leader, we remember his journey and how he inspired us to follow in his footsteps teaching us lessons in nationalism, loyalty and commitment to values for better future. With his death, we have lost a person who sparked among us a sense of responsibility toward our homeland and instilled enthusiasm in the old and the young. He promised us that victory is always on our side.
Despite the shock and pain that accompanied his death, it’s important that we adhere to the principles and values we learned from his words and speeches. We should remember the importance of cooperation and loyalty to our values in order to retain the development process and remain a strong country that enjoys stability and success in all areas and fields as envisioned by the late King Abdullah.
Perhaps one of our consolations is that his successor, King Salman, has a history of record achievements, enjoys popular support and love, and has played major roles for the sake of the country and citizens. From King Abdullah to King Salman, we are lucky that both have the same leadership qualities and ability to deal with issues. Also both kept the welfare of their citizens the top priority.
These qualities were in line with the values King Abdul Aziz and his successors held dear and adhered to. The loss of King Abdullah, albeit painful and sad, doesn't worry us about the Kingdom's fate. We know that the Kingdom is in safe hands as the leaders are capable to make achievements. We are confident that the future will be bright with a lot of accomplishments.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz has enough experience, wisdom and knowledge to give us confidence that from one king to another we will remain strong hoping for a bright future thanks to our wise leadership.
Along with King Salman, stands his brother Prince Muqrin whom King Salman appointed the crown prince on the wish of late King Abdullah.
May King Abdullah’s soul rest in peace. He has served his homeland and citizens, and may God bestow his blessings on our new King Salman and his brother Crown Prince Muqrin to run the country and serve citizens following the path drawn by King Abdul Aziz and followed by all the previous kings. May they all rest in peace.
