It is again time for writing thesis. Every Ph.D. scholar knows well how critical this phase is. One is suppose to sum up all his/her efforts of the past years to produce an acceptable thesis for submission. While working on one’s thesis, it should be remembered that very soon we would be made to defend our views as expressed in the report.
It is the time when you are left with your thesis with occasional interaction with the supervisor. It is undoubtedly a very lonely phase and needless to say, one can easily get distracted. The temptation to get hooked to the Internet for a few minutes always remains threatening the smooth flow of work.
I wonder what things used to distract Ph.D. scholars in the past. In the absence of the Internet and social media, what did they do to take a break from the cumbersome exercise of thesis writing?
Anyway, this distraction is just a state of mind. The other day, I was surfing the net when I saw my supervisor entering the room, I immediately switched to the word file I had been working on. Sensing my move, he laughed and asked me about it. I frankly admitted what I had done.
It is a very tough task. Sometimes, it is very difficult to find any relevance between the research findings and the ground realities. It is, however, amazing to note the similarities in human behavior regardless of nationality, religion and race.
I am beginning to realize that humans react to a certain situation in a very similar manner and often use the same techniques in overcoming certain problems.
This intrinsic human behavior actually compelled this writer to opt for social sciences.
When I try to ponder over the current situation in the Muslim world, I feel that different groups across the Muslim world are merely using the name of Islam for their vested interests.
Nobody should offer any apology for the actions of such selfish groups.
During my research, the educational tool was bought from its vendor with its pre-defined objectives. However, it can be used differently. The different use and the consequences cannot be blamed on the vendor. The user is responsible for the result.
We need to be more open-minded and be reminded that as Muslims we know Islam is perfect but we are not and that every individual is responsible for only his own action.
