It has been a really tough winter in the United Kingdom. We have been receiving snow very often.
Due to the harsh weather conditions, my children and I have started to get bored of our dry and uncertain routines. It really has become a great source of inconvenience.
It really irked me the other day when I received a text message from one of my son’s school informing about the closure of school due to inclement weather. I checked with the school authorities of my other son and was told that the school would remain open as usual.
Oh, that was a tricky situation. I had to take my son to the school to ensure he did not miss his classes. At the same time, I wanted to drag the other son, whose school was closed, with us because I could not have left him on his own. Despite hue and cry raised by the second one who wanted to enjoy his day off at home playing FIFA 15, I had to force him to accompany us.
Above all I also had to do to my university where I had to meet with my research supervisor and wanted to print a poster that I had to present at a conference during the weekend. Anyway, we went down stairs to check on the car. Keeping in view the weather conditions, I instantly decided not to use the car, as it would put us in harm’s way.
Finally, I thought of using the tram and called for my sons who had started playing with snow and I had to chase them to follow me. As we live up a hill, going down was an adventure, my only aim was to get down without stumbling, my children were enjoying sliding and they laughed at themselves as they fell. I wish I could enjoy falling without feeling embarrassed. After nearly reaching the tram stop, I looked around and realized that people are actually driving their cars, I stopped and started thinking, now if I took the tram I would be in trouble climbing up the hill where my son’s school is located and I would also be forced to take my other son with me to my university where he would get bored. That was the moment that I decided to climb up the hill to get on my car for not-so perilous journey. I shouted at the boys to follow me again and they started objecting. Well, it is amazing how my boys enjoy raising objections! They just do it for the sake of it even if they do like what I say. Mom, what’s for dinner? Pasta. Oh, no way, they would say. You like pasta, don’t you? Yes, we do but we want the curly one not the tube one.
As we were walking, it started snowing really heavily and we got covered in snow completely and the wind was very strong, we went back to our house and the moment I felt the warmth decided that its going to be a couch potato day.
