Most of the educational process, in our case, is based on rote learning. Therefore, the SR80 billion education development project should be questioned. The plan will go on for five years, and the dedicated huge budget includes sending teachers for training outside Saudi Arabia, developing new educational tools, new curricula, more electronic solutions, and so on.
Honestly, I am happy for every Saudi teacher that will be sent to Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, New Zealand, Finland and Singapore. About 25,000 Saudi teachers will get in touch with some of the best educational systems in the world. Should we assume that these teachers will bring with them many changes when they return?
Well, I do not want to be pessimistic about the future, but the need to be realistic is also crucial. It’s a question of what will happen in the action field. Let’s take a thorough look at schools and start from buildings to educational methodology. The targeted development has less to do with budgets only.
