Whatever is happening in Pakistan these days is a major cause of concern for every Pakistani whether in the country or abroad. I am not very much interested in politics and don’t support any particular political party. I support policies if they are in the greater interest of the country. These days Imran Khan and Dr. Tahirul Qadri are calling for a revolution. I somehow feel that their demand is a bit far-fetched.

Revolutions are not planted or imposed upon a nation or country. The term basically refers to a change in the overall system. These respected leaders should stop calling for a revolution. Instead they should press forward with their demands for social, electoral and democratic reforms. Having said that I for one don’t support these Gandhian tactics but unfortunately we are left with no choice but to take to the streets. Khan and Qadri should revisit their demand for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation. If Sharif succumbs to their pressure, it would lead to further chaos in the country.

After all he is the leader of a major political party and in case of resignation, his supporters will not sit quietly and the rest is anybody’s guess. I urge all stakeholders to pay attention to the just demands of Khan and Qadri and devise a comprehensive strategy to end the political stalemate. On the other hand, these two leaders should not press for PM’s resignation because it will set a wrong precedence in Pakistan’s politics. Any group can employ these tactics to impose its whims and wishes on the country.
