If Saudis can run some of the most important research centers abroad, if Saudis can teach in a number of world-renowned universities and if Saudis can lead surgeons in First World hospitals, why should thousands of them remain unemployed at home?
The current situation and the fact that we expect 150,000 Saudis to finish their scholarship and return home, will make things more difficult. Disappointingly, the Saudi private sector is still not offering enough support. Apart from a few private sectors, such as, banking, health care and aviation, the government remains the biggest absorber of qualified Saudis. While many Saudis deserve acknowledgement by the private sector, the immense reliance on importing others is still unjustified.
Now, how can this be acquainted? The Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Labor brought out a program called ‘Jahiz,’ which collects and exposes qualified Saudis who are ready to work and lead. The idea itself, I believe, is purposeful. But, aren't we missing a third party? The biggest names in private sector did not sign this agreement.
