The recent attack on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in France has put a spotlight on the wider issue of growing extremist tendencies in Europe.
It also begs the question whether the US war on terror as conceived and started almost 15 years ago was the appropriate response to the events of Sept. 11. Instead of knee-jerk reactions, the Paris attack calls for a somber reflection. While undoubtedly French and European leaders will confer with each other over intelligence sharing and ways of enhancing European security at home in order to best pre-empt similar attacks in future, there remains the danger that they will become so obsessed with the symptoms of terrorism that they might fail to consider its causes.
There are two major interrelated causes of terrorism that are invariably ignored by the western media, which need to be addressed to reduce its threat within Europe in the long run. These are the dysfunctional nature of the UN Security Council allied to Israel-controlled US foreign policy agenda in the Middle East.
The failure of the UN Security Council to implement resolutions that are designed to facilitate the creation of a Palestinian state has massively destabilized the Middle East. On Dec. 31, 2014, the Palestinians had proposed a peaceful and legal way to resolve the issue within three years. However, the attempt failed at the Security Council.
The US organized support for the rejection of the proposal.
It also makes a mockery of President Barack Obama’s sincerity in seeking the establishment of a Palestinian state since it gives a bright green light to the Jewish settlers to build more illegal settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. It further undermines the potential role of the US as an honest broker in Palestinian-Israeli conflict since it was precisely the announcement of new settlements by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government that sabotaged Secretary of State John Kerry’s efforts to broker a deal.
It all just goes to show the extent to which US foreign policy and the United Nations Security Council have been influenced by the aggressive Zionist agenda of the Jewish settlers who in turn have hijacked Israeli democracy.
A United Nations Security Council that discriminates against Muslims cannot ensure peace and harmony in the world. It was the failure of the UN Security Council to implement its own resolutions on Palestine that led to the formation and rise of Al-Qaeda.
Apparently the US leaders and members of the UN Security Council have failed to learn lessons from the 9/11 attacks. In fact the US response to Sept. 11 attacks, which involved the killing of thousands of Afghan civilians and ignited civil war and acts of genocide in Iraq not only strengthened Al-Qaeda but also paved the way for the emergence of the self-ascribed Islamic State (IS).
As long as the US continues to abuse its powers in the Security Council, radicalization of Muslims will never stop. As long as the UN Security Council acts as an agent of Zionist aggression against the Palestinians and fails to implement their rights to political self-determination and statehood, the more it will fail the security of its member states. These states now have a stark choice to make in 2015.
Either the UN Security Council can transparently fulfill its obligations to humanity by taking seriously the implementation of those resolutions that are designed to promote international peace and security as well as racial and religious tolerance, or it can continue to fuel the rise of terrorism by acting as an agent of Zionist aggression and terrorism against the Palestinians.
Instead of investing billions of dollars on an illusory war against terrorism, funds should be used for the creation of a viable Palestinian state, which will only help enhance the security of the world.
