Happened in Gaya with JDU leader Manorama Devi’s son Rocky getting rightly pissed off that this cheeky sod would dare to pass his excellency’s vehicle, what with armed guards and security and all that sitting next to him when the incident occurred.
His Mama says Rocky is innocent and Mamas don’t lie. The possibility that the gun went off as a scuffle took place is on the cards. Look at the car, there is a neat bullet hole smack, right dab in the center of the glass at the rear which could only happen if you saw some garden variety Indian daring to pass you by and you lifted your carbine and pot-shotted the fellow. They caught Rocky the Rifleman three days after he killed Aditya Sachdev in cold blood. Rocky has admitted to the murder. So we are told. Tell you what can happen now that some of the security personnel have also been arrested. Since they did not do the shooting they will have to be let off. Rocky will be in jail until ‘arrangements’ are made for this case to follow certain lines.
Since this story has the staying power of 48 hours (maximum) the following things will probably occur. In whatever order suits the JD(U) leaders ... little wads of notes will exchange hands. Witnesses will get attacks of convenient amnesia. The grieving family will be well advised to ease up and take advantage of the reality of the situation ... it is not as if Aditya is coming back. Make a compromise. Life has to go on. If they do not see sense there will be veiled threats dispatched as concern for the family welfare.
All through these negotiations as the initial truth becomes opaque and the blame will get a set of wheels and begin to shift dramatically onto Aditya.
He was aggressive. He was out of control. He was driving dangerously. He had five friends in the car who threatened poor Rocky. They kicked his car and took on the security who were armed to the teeth which, of course is the normal thing to do, take on cops with guns. Perhaps one of the security personnel or the driver or a ‘volunteer’ will finally be produced who will confess that he accidentally fired the shot and poor Rocky had nothing to do with it. In fact he was asleep. That will sell. If the accused (my word, made up by me) has confessed why do the police need one month to write up a chargesheet. Where is this such a steep hill to climb. Get the killer a lawyer, read him his rights and charge him with murder.
Instead they are going to check up where he got his gun license from and freeze his passport so he doesn’t do a Vijay Mallya.
As they say in showbiz: zat ees ze point I don’t get. Two points. Does it make any difference where he got the license from or whether the gun was licensed or not?
Then again where is he going you need to impound his passport? Isn’t he under arrest, in jail, behind bars, facing charges, so what’s with this passport thing and why is it such a violent priority.
That means he can fly around the country once he gets bail. You need to ask why he shoots people not worry about him going abroad unless he isn’t staying locked up.
We all know what that can mean. Rocky will have a change of heart in this one month period, a revelation that his confession was coerced and he never killed anybody.
So the police have to look for a killer. By now Rocky will, like Lady Macbeth, have washed the gun powder residue off his hands and wrist so there will be nothing to tie him to the fired weapon.
While Aditya’s friends have borne witness to the events which unfolded, the security people are saying nothing. You’d think that by now the men in uniform who were with him would have sung like canaries unless they have been told to shut up.
