The tragic incident of the shooting of an American worker took place in one of Riyadh's busiest streets. It was a Tuesday afternoon when hundreds of drivers visit the gas station.
Those who are trying desperately to link this accident to an act of terrorism should know the following: First: Vinnel Arabia (the American company where the American national work) has been in Saudi Arabia for nearly 40 years, which have been very peaceful. Second: The murderer is a 25-year-old man who was recently fired from Vinnel for ‘behavioral and administrative reasons’. Third: Saudi officials have stated that ‘no links with terrorist groups have been traced between the murdered and extremists’. Moreover, the civil records of the murderer reveal that he was born in the US.
Was it a personal issue? A lot is expected to come out of investigations as the gunman was taken into police custody after being injured in the shootout.
