The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs decreed that any seller of harmful food will be sentenced to 10 years in jail. This is not the worst part for those who find it easy to strip us of our health! The sentenced will also be subject to a fine of SR10 million ($2.7 million).

Now, I am quite positive that many will be caught shortly, especially those who work in small scale catering. But I am more curious about one other thing: Will the gigantic junk food sellers be questioned as well? Who will decide that junk food causes less harm than any other suspected food?

In Jeddah, we saw that big names in the fast food business had some of their branches closed down by the authorities. But the story does not end here. We need to know what sort of penalties are being used! Regaining trust in the control of this business is just the beginning.
