MADINAH: Marking Madinah’s status as the 2017 Capital of Islamic Tourism, crowds and pilgrims flocked to the “Madinah, Ma’zar of Faith” exhibition near Quba Mosque in the city.
The curator of the exhibition, Mansour Mahmoud Al-Ghaffari, told Arab News that a large number of visitors and pilgrims of different nationalities attend the exhibition daily, with visitors reaching sometimes 1,000 a day.
The exhibition opens in the morning and in the evening.
Al-Ghaffari said the exhibition presents different aspects that highlight the prominent religious and historical role Madinah has played.
The objects on display belong to Madinah’s Center for Research and Studies under the supervision of King Abdulaziz Foundation.
The exhibition tells Madinah’s story from different aspects and through the ages, especially during the Prophet’s era. It shows the places where the divine revelation was made, and gives the biography of the Prophet.
The exhibition includes paintings depicting the history of the Prophet’s Mosque, its architecture and development. It also details the Al-Ansar tribe, as well as a three-dimensional model of Madinah, and the Prophet’s Mosque that exhibits the urban and civic development.
Al-Ghaffari said that several translators will be available at the exhibition to provide information in English, Persian, Turkish, Urdu and Arabic about the religious and historical stature of Madinah.
The exhibition has 15 sections, each containing a number of paintings that show Madinah’s history, Al-Ghaffari said.
