JEDDAH: The director general of health affairs in Tabuk, Dr. Gharmallah bin Abdullah Al-Ghamidi, has issued a directive to form an emergency committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the transfer of a newborn baby girl to another family by mistake.

The directorate, represented by the King Fahad Specialty Hospital, apologized for the mistake, which was committed by nursing staff.

Muneifa Al-Atawi, the mother of the baby girl, said she was shocked by the news of her baby’s disappearance a few hours after she was born.

The official spokesman for the Tabuk health directorate, Atallah bin Mohammad Al-Omarani, said the baby girl was returned to the family, and the other baby, a boy, is still in the intensive care unit for newborns at the hospital.
