RIYADH: The Eastern Martial Arts Association (EMAA) on Friday held a seminar on martial arts at the International Program School in Euro Village Compound in Alkhobar.
Dominador N. Caballero Jr., EMAA president, said the one-day seminar was held to teach martial arts enthusiasts on how to defend themselves.
“The seminar engendered the spirit of friendship and camaraderie among martial arts enthusiasts as well as the trainers of the club,” said Caballero, who has been holding the seminar for the last four years.
Caballero, who hails from Pangasinan Province northwest of Manila, said the club has trained many Saudi and expat martial arts enthusiasts in the Eastern Province.
“They are happy for what they have learned and enthusiastically share their skills with young martial arts enthusiasts,” he said.
A token fee of SR50 was paid by participants for the snacks and other incidental expenses, said Caballero who works for the Body Fitness and Self-Defense Center in Dammam.
The instructors during the seminar included Eduardo Martinez who will teach Arnis; Sammy Saad Al-Assaf, street fight; Jojo Gabiane, Shuseikai OFAC; Ibrahim Al-Hawaj, mixed martial arts; and Rolando Salmo, Mongolian Kempo.
The seminar was held in cooperation with the umbrella organization All Filipino Community and Sports Commission (AFCSCOM) which comprises some 70 groups.
