Saudi Arabia has affirmed its support for the regional and international efforts to end the violence in Afghanistan.
“The Saudi government supports all regional and international efforts being made to wipe out violence, fighting and terrorism in that country,” Prince Abdul Aziz, deputy foreign minister, said while addressing a special conference on Afghanistan in Almaty as part of the Istanbul initiative on the war-battered country.
“It requires doubled international efforts to enable the people of Afghanistan to enjoy stability and peace, a prerequisite for achieving development and realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Afghan people,” the prince added.
On the sidelines of the conference, the prince also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Kazakh Foreign Minister Arleen Idrisov and a high-ranking official of the British Foreign Office, the SPA reported yesterday.
The prince also signed with Afghan foreign minister a general agreement for cooperation in economic, commercial, investment, scientific, educational, technical, cultural and sports fields.
