A 23-year-old Pakistani man continues to fight for his life in a hospital here after collapsing while playing cricket on Friday.
During the game, Mansoor Zahoor felt acute pain in his chest and then collapsed, his cousin Imran Khan said.
“Mansoor had reported high blood pressure and stress a few times. He used to smoke to suppress his pains,” said his younger brother, Bilal.
Doctors at the private Riyadh Care Hospital (RCH) inserted a tube into his chest and extracted 1,400 ml of blood. He was admitted to the ICU but there is still internal bleeding. The hospital conducted a series of tests to diagnose the cause of the problem, and surgery can’t be ruled out,” said Khan.
He said they cannot afford to pay for his treatment at the RCH and want to transfer him to a government hospital. However, government hospitals only treat Saudis, he said.
Khan said Zahoor does not have medical insurance because his iqama had expired when his father died in 2012. He was still waiting for his current employer to transfer his sponsorship.
He said they had already spent over SR65,000 on his treatment in one week and cannot afford more. “We thank all those people who are supporting the family,” said Khan.
