ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s coronavirus death toll surged past the 25,000 mark on Monday after health authorities reported 80 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to government data.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), which oversees Pakistan’s pandemic response, said that 3,772 people had tested positive out of the 53,881 tests conducted since Sunday.
The total number of infections climbed to 1,127,584, with a 7 percent positivity rate, while 5,390 patients were in critical care.

Since the start of August, authorities have ramped up vaccination measures across the country of 220 million, administering over 46 million doses since February, with plans to inoculate 40 percent of its population by month-end.
