PETRA: The head of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority and US ambassador to Jordan on Saturday discussed prospects for enhanced cooperation, with a focus on sustainable tourism, infrastructure development and projects supporting the local community, the Jordan News Agency reported.
PDTRA Chief Commissioner Fares Braizat and envoy Jim Holtsnider met in the historic city for their discussions.
Braizat highlighted the strength of the partnership with the US and expressed appreciation for American support for development and tourism initiatives in the Petra region, noting their positive impact on sustainable development.
Holtsnider praised PDTRA’s efforts to preserve Petra’s cultural heritage and improve its tourism offering, citing visible progress in site maintenance, tourism management and the overall visitor experience.
The ambassador noted that Americans are among the most frequent visitors to Petra, underlining its global tourism appeal, and reaffirmed US commitment to continued cooperation and support for Jordan across tourism and development sectors.
