ABHA: Tourism in Al-Namas Province is very intertwined with the aesthetics of nature and heritage, starting from the Heritage Palace in the historic district, and Al-Thurban Palace.
More than 100 different tourist sites, containing parks, family settings, private museums and other recreational sites and activities, will soon be delivered by the contractor.
The province includes eight heritage villages, and two other villages will be added to the list in the north of the region, in addition to nine urban heritage sites developed to receive visitors, and other 30 archaeology sites with easy access. There are 12 private museums, while the hospitality accommodations available in Al-Namas number more than 50 facilities.
Abdullah Al-Juairi, mayor of Al-Namas, revealed that the inauguration of the summer festival in Namas will kick off at Al-Thurban Palace for its historical significance. The festival includes cultural and educational activities, poetry, folklore shows, youth activities, photography exhibitions, free painting and the meeting of intellectuals at Dywanit Al-Namas, in addition to sound and light shows.
Director General of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) in Asir Muhammad Al-Umrah emphasized the historical and cultural value of the region, adding that the SCTNH branch cooperated with the tourism development board and worked hard to select the best activities for the region, which were approved by Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khalid.
He added that projects implemented by SCTNH in Asir include fencing many archaeology sites to preserve them, and supporting heritage villages and sites, and including them on the tourism path so that tourists come and visit them to learn about the nature and civilization in the region, in addition to its heritage and historic value.
