Early this month, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a Saudi-Pakistan backed resolution condemning Israeli atrocities against Palestinians and calling for punishing Israel for violating international human rights conventions.
It is unlikely the resolution will stop the violations because Israel has been committing them since the creation of the Jewish state in Palestine. However, its adoption by the UNHRC adds weight to the ever-growing condemnation of the unruly Jewish practices in the occupied Arab territories for more than 60 years.
It is no secret that the Israeli government cares the least about the UN because hundreds of resolutions were adopted but none of them was implemented, thanks to the US and British veto. The only time the UN took up a resolution and worked for its implementation was in 1948. That resolution called for the partition of Palestine between European Jews and indigenous Arabs.
The then newly-formed Israeli government, headed by David ben Gorion, accepted that resolution but only to take its part of the land and that of the Palestinians. The UN did nothing to stop the Israeli usurpation of Arab territories which reached a climax in June 1967 and the eventual occupation of the whole of Palestine, including the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
The Israeli pogrom against the Palestinians is continuing endlessly, but the West is indifferent to their plight.
Everyone knows how the Zionist organizations had used the hoax of the so-called Nazi “holocaust” to terrorize European Jews and force them to migrate to the Arab-inhibited Palestine. It is also a known fact how these organizations had blackmailed consecutive German governments over repatriation to Tel Aviv.
The “holocaust” is a Zionist-fabricated trade mark, exclusive for Jews. And when it comes to the Israeli massacres against the Palestinian people, using the word here becomes a crime, just like denying it.
This so-called “holocaust” has always been used to intimidate any free-minded individual who dares to criticize the Israeli crimes and ethnic cleansing in Palestine. For this reason, denying or questioning the reported mass killing of Jews during the Nazi era is deemed as “anti-Semitic”, another term invented by Zionists to keep everybody silent. Books were banned, films were confiscated and authors were harassed over the issue so that the Israeli army is free to continue its aggression against civilians in Gaza, killing and wounding thousands and razing their homes. The massacre of civilians in Gaza Strip has been continuing since 2004.
In fact, the Israelis have committed the worst of all the massacres in recorded history by using the civilians in Gaza as guinea pigs to test the weapons manufactured by the US and them. The US and Britain have never condemned the Israeli crimes because these two countries are the creators of this monster in the heart of the Arab world.
Having said this, there are no doubts that the resolution will not stop the inhuman Israeli treatment of Palestinians. Rather, the government of the “chosen people” will commit more crimes and go unpunished. And when not waging an aggression against the Gaza Strip, the Israelis are tightening the noose against this strip through the economic siege. About two million people live on this land, less than the size of New York city, but the Israelis have imposed land, sea and air blockades against the area.
Traveling abroad is not possible because the only air strip was destroyed by the US F-16 warplanes, and the poor people are not allowed to even fish to sustain themselves and their families. Tunnels were the only source to get commodities to the besieged people but they were also destroyed by the Egyptian government, the second Arab country after Jordan to sign a “peace” treaty with the Israelis.
The Israelis are punishing the people of Gaza for electing Hamas in a transparent democratic election. But what many people do not know is that there are fundamentalist and extremist Jews in the Israel Knesset.
The Palestinians are facing starvation and slow death. The Israelis actually want the world to forget that these people actually exist, that is why they are doing their best to stop even boats from coming to the shores of Gaza to tell the besieged people that there are people in this world, albeit very few, who want to tell them that they are not alone in their misery and sufferings.
The West has to stop pampering the Israelis. If this indifference, not to say conspiracy, continues, the pro-Israeli Western governments should not be surprised if the besieged people resort to all means to fight for their lives and unshackle themselves. They are poor and unarmed, but they had always been rising like the phoenix coming from the ashes. When the Palestinians react, nobody has the right to claim that the Palestinians are terrorists and that the Israelis are peace-loving people.
