JEDDAH: Customs inspectors seized nearly 35,000 Captagon pills hidden under the back seat of a car crossing into the Kingdom from neighboring Jordan.
The inspectors in the border town of Hala Ammar decided to search the vehicle after suspecting the driver was transporting illegal items.
“About 35,000 Captagon tablets were found hidden under the back seat of the car. They were stuffed inside the bottom of the seat,” Customs Director Bandar Al-Raheeli was quoted as saying by the Arabic language daily Ajel.
Meanwhile in Jeddah, airport customs inspectors arrested two women trying to smuggle more than 2 kg of cocaine in their stomachs.
The inspectors at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah decided to have one woman scanned after suspecting she was transporting illegal items. Her body scanning showed she was hiding 89 capsules containing around 1.2 kilograms of cocaine.
A woman aboard another flight on the same day was also caught hiding 1.1 kilograms of cocaine in her stomach, Ajel said without identifying the two or their nationalities.
