During a recent meeting with university rectors and directors of education in Riyadh region, Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar, suggested creation of a youth council to enable our youngsters to actively contribute to the comprehensive development in the country.
The main idea behind the creation of this council is to give our youth enough space to debate their concerns and listen to their opinions.
What makes this idea so unique is that it is timely especially in these circumstances that our country is passing through. Statistics show that youth form a large percentage of our society and they are mostly graduates. Hence, this council will be their parliament in one way or another. In the past, there were many programs aimed at motivating the youth, but very few of them had succeeded and they were the ones that were managed by the youth themselves.
The council, according to Prince Faisal, will be an opportunity to discover creativity and innovation among the youth in societal leadership so as to cultivate, develop and utilize them as early as possible.
The suggestion to create the youth council will be implemented soon, but after enough and careful preparations. This necessitates working out mechanisms and networks of internal and external relations and structural organization.
Such a body will help boost leadership qualities among our youth. It is very important to groom our youth because they form the basis of our society. Our country’s leadership has provided all required resources and requirements for this project.
We all know that external forces that know very well that the youngsters are the secret behind the Kingdom’s strength are targeting our youth. So, any deviation in the process of enabling the youth to assume their leadership role will have serious consequences.
