The last few days had been very hectic for me. After living for over five years in the same house, I decided to move to some other place. The whole exercise of packing and unpacking was draining both physically and emotionally.

I have always prided myself for being a person who hates clutters. I only buy stuff I need and I don’t usually buy stuff just because they are on sale. I carefully pick what I want to possess and I try to steer clear from tiny small worthless stuff. Well, to my shock, I doubted myself greatly when I started clearing out the house. I was surprised to discover small annoying stuff in my home.

The easiest part was getting rid of the big bulky stuff, then came the other stuff. It was like they were reproducing while I was busy doing my Ph.D. There is no way that I could have deliberately brought them in. I emptied one drawer in tears trying to get rid of the useless power socket without harming the environment only to be surprised that the other drawer had a complete stock of useless batteries, pens and pencils.

When I started packing my stuff, I thought there was no use of hiring a large vehicle to move my stuff to the other place. Oh, I was so wrong. I had no idea that I had accumulated useful and useless things over these years. I ended up moving stuff in my car in turns. This chore took about 10 car journeys until all the stuff was moved, that was not fun.

This physical pain was nothing compared to the emotional stress. I loved each part of my apartment. I adored the huge windows, which allowed sunlight to enter the whole house. I had a very soft spot for the surrounding park and playground. I loved how isolated it was with no noise, my building was in the middle of a national reserve forest, and I used to wake up to the sounds of birds and winds. I am at a loss for words. I will badly miss that life. But this is what life is all about. I have successfully accomplished my mission in the UK. Now it is time to begin a new life and implement whatever I have learned so far in life.
