Atienza, Pingol star in Etihad Tuesday League

Edwin Atienza of Team Kamahalan and Ruel Pingol of Dabarkads took center stage in week 21 of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
Atienza rolled a series of 931 to capture the Bowler of the Week award in Group 1 while Pingol carded a 4-game score of 936 for the same feat in Group 2.
In the team competition, there is no stopping top team NBA as it delivered yet another perfect score of 22 against SABB Advance (6 points) on the way to its fifth Team of the Week award. Leading NBA’s stellar performance was Mike Ecalnir with a series of 929, with contributions from Ryan Iñigo (874), Bandar Al-Marshad (843), Joe Garrido (775), Ronald Bautista (476) and Art Yukong (436).
In other matches, Habagat maintained its winning form also with a perfect score against Pinhitters 22-8, Dabarkads edged Pin Pals in a closely fought match 16-15, Thrill Seekers clobbered Lane Cruiser 21-7, Unica kept third position in the team standings with a convincing 20 -7 win over Vinell Arabia, Ayaw Na defeated SACO Bolts 15-7 and Kamahalan escaped another upset by beating Mandirigma 17-12.
Ronald Bautista still leads the MVP race Group 1 with an average of 215.60 followed by Mike Miranda (212.71) and Andro Tismo (212.67). In the Group 2 MVP race, Rodel Maranca leads with an average of 220.75 followed by Iñigo (186.0) and Fathi Abdulaziz (185.98).

UFTBR No Tap Open tournament
In celebration of its anniversary, UFTBR organized a No Tap Open bowling tournament to be held at the AlKhozama Bowling Center. Qualifying rounds will start today and will run for a month. Bowlers need to enter three blocks (3 games per block) to qualify. The top 32 qualifiers will move to the semifinal rounds on March 28 with the top eight proceeding to the final rounds on March 29. Cash and special prizes await the winners. The event chairman is Art Palustre with support from UFTBR officers and Work Committee Members.
