Nov. 3 was the last chance for illegal expat workers to rectify their status to remain in the Kingdom.

What went on during the last few months?

• Nearly 2 million non-Saudis changed their job titles.

• More than 2 million non-Saudis moved to new sponsors.

• 1 million illegal expats left Saudi Arabia.

These are official figures and the Saudi media is expecting the final headcount by mid-November, which according to many HR specialists, should bring more surprises.

Around 5 million expats have decided what is best for them. The 4:1 ratio confirms that most expats wish to stay, live and benefit from the Kingdom’s economic boom.

The remaining illegal expats should expect a restless inspection campaign lead by Ministry of Labor and immigration officials. This campaign is intended to trace illegal workers in all parts of Saudi Arabia. The next development plan relies largely on ascertaining the actual number of expats who can contribute to building a better tomorrow.
