Social change is inevitable
Inventions help to change lifestyles and a proliferation of these inventions leads to the existence of accumulations that lead in turn to more change and innovations that are more closely associated with daily life, especially when they spread rapidly and on a large scale, which necessitates that society gradually adapts to them.
New inventions force society to submit to them and to what the inventions decree. There are many examples and evidence of this, whether in communications, various electronic services or other fields that were previously considered as fanciful, magic or as trickery. Many people disapproved of them and refused to use them, but then society soon gave in to them because of the development of knowledge and science and its diffusion among various sectors of society.
Elihayu Goldratt, originator of the theory of constraints, says he does not believe that people reject change. They reject or resist change that they have not been prepared for, about which they do not have adequate information and that they haven’t had time to understand, he says. This explains the fact that people accept change when they have had enough time to understand the value and the objective of the change. But “enough time” is in many cases undefined and could be one year or several years or several centuries, which means many societies miss opportunities that could help them develop and evolve.
One of the problems that confronts the transformation of a society is that some people believe that transformation means abandoning values and fundamental principles, and that change or experimentation mean decadence and immorality, which means that every step toward change, especially if it has not been well prepared, is met with vociferous rejection and emotional allegations, which help to divide and fragment society instead of changing society for the better.
Social transformation is inevitable, and with all the events and developments that are taking place around us and that we are experiencing today, we must not waste any more time.
We must all work as one team to support this transformation, in order to develop individuals and society, within the framework of our religion and our principles.
